The battery tester is used to check the voltage of a 12V lead-acid battery, eg the on-board voltage in a car. This connection is suitable for beginners, does not hide any tricks and works on the first connection, it is only necessary to set the voltage levels for the measured voltage by trimmers R2 and R3.
Circuit diagram:
The design uses operational amplifiers in a comparative circuit. A simple integrated circuit 1458 can be used in the circuit, here the NE5532 is used. Components R5 and D1 generate the reference voltage for the integrated circuit. R1 – R4 serve as voltage dividers for level measurement. The logic values on the outputs of the operational amplifiers change, the corresponding LED lights up accordingly. Zener diode D2 is used so that the red LED does not light up at a lower level and the output of the operational amplifier flips to a value of logic 1.
